Mestrando Caima
There are several brazilians who brought capoeira, and started the capoeira scene here in Japan. Also Americans,
and some Japanese going to Brazil and learning some years and bringing back the dende(palm oil "the energy").
Silvio Amansio Diniz was one of the brazilians that came to Japan more than 10 years ago.
At that time, Japan was a very difficult place to start teaching capoeira.
Struggling the cold cultural differences, and the hard work in the factory...
But always dreaming the day to come. The day to teach capoeira in Japan.
First coming from Sao Paulo in 1994 with his wife "Janaina" descendent japanese as a
"Dekasegi"(wiki).
After given the belt as a formed teacher from Mestre Trindade(SP Grupo NAZ),
he has always drempt of leaving his country and teaching capoeira at a foreign place.
Participating in events, performing at a an event in UNESCO, traveling to Urugauy,
always playing capoeira.
One day he makes a dicision to go to Japan from an advice from his father-in-law,
"Why not go to Japan where my family comes from?"
making the young married couple decide to go all the way to the other side of the wolrd, "Japan".
First working in Ehime prefecture, not even imagining such hard work has been waiting
to be sent as an worker from Brazil to Japan. Spending time working and training for a while,
he had apportunities to go to Gunma, Niigata, Fukushima and Osaka to work and also
perform and show capoeira in each street corner with his Berimbau.
Although the other co-workers has remained and worked hard in the factories,
he couldn't bear the irrationality of the working conditions. So every time he had earned enough mony,
he would pack up and leave to another city dreaming of a better life, that would value him with what he has, and what he is "capoeira".
Capoeira was born from the craving of freedom, liberty. He also lives that way, and teaches the philosophy of fighting for freedom.
From the year 2000, he setteled in Osaka with his first group, also started giving classes in Kyoto
as the group "Ginga Nippon". And on the 10th of July 2002, he started the group "CAIS DO MAR",
which means "the wharf of the sea" having a strong meaning of respecting the beginning, origin of capoeira.
Brazil was a new country for the portugues, bringing many natural resources and ritchness to their country,
landing to the new country and first building a "wharf" to transport the products. Than starting the slave trade.
Bringing africans to the new land unloading them and selling and trading them near the port.
They always passed the wharf, and started their new life that is dreaming of liberty.
Singing and dancing and fighting by the sea, praying for their freedom to the god of the ocean.
The ocean, the connection to the world.
Today the group Cais do Mar has been growing practiced in Kyoto, Osaka, Nara
with more than 100 students from all levels and ages from kids to parents and foreigners from Taiwan,
Korea, Canada, U.S.A and Italy.
He was born in San Paulo in 1974, Brazil. He started learning Capoeira at the age of 7,
and started training with the group NAZ at the age of 13, under the masters of Mestre Trindade, Mestre Chimbica, Mestre Faisca.
Since then, he has been devoting all his life to Capoeira as any other great masters.
Although the difficulties of supporting his family during his child hood,
he has worked and earned his own money to go and train at the capoeira academy.
When he talks about his child hood memories, he sais that he always had thought and drempt of capoeira.
He has been given the license of an Instructer of the age of 18, from the association
"Netos de Amaralina Capoeira" in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
He has now been teaching Capoeira in Japan for more than 12 years,
has been teaching, spreading, showing and also still learning the wonderful essences, philosophy of Capoeira
which is his own culture and roots of a Brazilian culture.
He doens't smoke nor drink alcohol to keep maintaining a healthy body to be a true capoeirista.
He hasn't been back to Brazil for a long period of time,
for his stong dream to spread capoeira through out Japan,
and give more knowledge and understanding about this Brazilian culture. Hoping one day that poeple imagining about Brazil,
saying Football(Soccer), Samba, Carnival and Capoeira!
"Capoeira is very similar to Karate or Judo of the Japanese culture.
For me capoeira is like a religion, philosophy, like a respiration and the food that you eat everyday.
Although every individual has it´s own diversity, ways to accept capoeira. That is what I teach through the art of capoeira."
